चांपा - चांपा के स्व. जीवनलाल साव सामुदायिक भवन में सुरेंद्र केसरवानी, राकेश केसरवानी एवं परिवार द्वारा स्व. देवकुमारी केसरवानी जी के वार्षिक श्राद्ध निमित्त श्रीमद्भागवत कथा ज्ञान यज्ञ आयोजित है जहां कथा का विस्तार करते हुए श्रद्धेय ब्यासपीठ पंडित मनोज पाण्डेय जी ने बताया कि समुद्र मंथन की कथा बहुत से पुराणों में है भागवत जी में भी है। समुद्र मंथन से कुल 14 रत्न प्राप्त हुए थे परंतु इनके नाम किसी भी एक पुराण में पूरा पूरा प्राप्त नहीं होता है। साहित्य में भी 14 रत्न माना गया है इनके नाम हैं - हाथी घोड़ा रथ स्त्री बाढ़ खजाना माला वस्त्र वृक्ष शक्ति पाश मणि छत्र और विमान। कोई भी राजा इन रत्नों को प्राप्त करने के लिए लालायित रहते थे। सभी 18 पुराणों में समुद्र मंथन की कथा मैंने ढूंढी। 9 पुराणों में समुद्र मंथन की चर्चा हुई है इनमें रत्नों के नाम में भिन्नता है। श्रीमद् भागवत जी में समुद्र मंथन की कथा में प्राप्त रत्नों के नाम इस प्रकार हैं विष कामधेनु उच्चैश्रवा घोड़ा ऐरावत हाथी कौस्तुभ मणि कल्पवृक्ष  अप्सरा श्री लक्ष्मी देवी वारुणी मदिरा धन्वन्तरि और अमृत श्रीमद्देवीभागवत में  धन्वंतरि अमृत उच्चै:श्रवा अनेक विध रत्न ऐरावत लक्ष्मीजी सुदर्शन चक्र और वनमाला। विष्णु पुराण में  कामधेनु वारुणी मदिरा कल्पवृक्ष अप्सरा चंद्रमा विष धन्वंतरि अमृत लक्ष्मीजी। पद्मपुराण में कामधेनु वारुणी मदिरा कल्पवृक्ष अप्सरा चंद्रमा विष उच्चै:श्रवाः ऐरावत लक्ष्मीजी। स्कन्दपुराण में विष सुरभि कल्पवृक्ष पारिजात आम संतानवृक्ष कौस्तुभ उच्चैश्रवा ऐरावत लक्ष्मीजी मदिरा भांग काकड़ासिंगी लहसुन गाजर धतूरा पुष्कर धन्वन्तरि अमृत। मत्स्य पुराण में कालकूट धन्वन्तरि मदिरा ऐरावत उच्चैश्रवा अमृत कामधेनु   कौस्तुभ छत्र कुण्डल पारिजात।  नरसिंह पुराण में कालकूट ऐरावत उच्चैश्रवा अप्सरा पारिजात चन्द्रमा दिव्य रत्न आभूषण गंधर्व लक्ष्मीजी धन्वन्तरि और अमृत।  शिवपुराण में समुद्र मन्थन कथा है पर रत्नों के नाम नही केवल राहु की चर्चा है।  लिंग पुराण में लक्ष्मीजी के पहले अलक्ष्मी भी प्रकट हुयी।  कूर्म पुराण में समुद्र मन्थन की चर्चा है पर रत्नों के नाम नही। वाराह मार्कण्डेय भविष्य ब्रह्म नारद ब्रह्मवैवर्त वायु वामन अग्नि में नही है।

A total of 14 gems were obtained from the churning of the ocean, but their names are not found in full in any single Purana. There are 14 gems considered in literature, their names are - Elephant, Horse, Chariot, Woman, Flood, Treasure, Garland, Clothing, Tree, Shakti, Loop, Gem, Umbrella and Vimana. Any king was eager to get these gems. I found the story of churning of the ocean in all the 18 Puranas. Churning of the ocean has been discussed in 9 Puranas, there is variation in the names of gems. The names of the gems found in the story of churning of the ocean in Srimad Bhagwat are as follows - Poison Kamdhenu Uchchaishrava Horse Airavat Elephant Kaustubh Mani Kalpavriksha Apsara Shri Lakshmi Devi Varuni Madira Dhanvantari and Amrit In Srimaddevi Bhagwat Dhanvantari Amrit Ucchaihashrava Anek Vidh Ratna Airavat Lakshmiji Sudarshan Chakra and Vanala . In Vishnu Purana, Kamdhenu, Varuni, liquor, Kalpavriksha, Apsara, Moon, poison, Dhanvantari, Amrit Lakshmiji. In Padmapuran, Kamdhenu, Varuni, liquor, Kalpavriksha, Apsara, Moon, poison, Uchchai: Shravah, Airavat Lakshmiji. In Skandapuran, poison is Surbhi, Kalpvriksha, Parijat, Mango, Santanvriksha, Kaustubh, Uchchaishrava, Airavat, Lakshmiji, liquor, Bhang, Kakrasingi, Garlic, Carrot, Dhatura, Pushkar, Dhanvantari nectar. In Matsya Purana, Kalkoot Dhanvantari Madira Airavat Uchchaishrava Amrit Kamdhenu Kaustubh Chhatra Kundal Parijat. In Narasimha Purana, Kalakoot, Airavat, Uchchaishrava, Apsara, Parijat, Moon, Divine Gems, Jewelry, Gandharva, Lakshmiji, Dhanvantari and nectar. There is a story of churning of the ocean in Shivpuran but only Rahu is discussed, not the names of gems. In Linga Purana, Alakshmi also appeared before Lakshmiji.
